In Islam, protection is not achieved through luck, amulets or superstition. It comes through one thing only: the words of Allah and His Prophet ﷺ, spoken with certainty and trust.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us specific duas for every vulnerability — morning, evening, entering the home, travelling, before sleep. This system of adhkar is a complete shield, available to every Muslim at every moment. And missing it carries real consequences — as one companion discovered.
The Three Quls — The Strongest Daily Shield
The Prophet ﷺ instructed us to read Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas three times each in the morning and evening. A narration in Tirmidhi records that before Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas were revealed, the Prophet ﷺ used to seek protection with other words. After they were revealed, he took to them and left everything besides them. — (Tirmidhi). He said: "They are sufficient for you against everything." — (Abu Dawud, authenticated). These three surahs protect from all evil, the evil eye, black magic, and the whispering of Shaytan. After they were revealed, the Prophet ﷺ considered them the complete replacement for all other protection duas — a statement about their weight and sufficiency.
Ayatul Kursi — The Greatest Protection Verse
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255 — Recite after every salah and before sleeping. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi after every prayer, nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death." — (Nasa'i). Before sleep: a guardian from Allah stays with you until morning — confirmed in Sahih Bukhari when a companion was told this directly by a figure he later discovered was Shaytan, confirmed by the Prophet ﷺ as true.
